Azusa's very own Ginger De Vine treated little ones and their grown-ups to an evening of entertainment and books at the release party for her latest book, "Cameron the Charming Chimpanzee."
This is the fifth children's book written by De Vine, who has lived in Azusa with her husband Bob since 1988. "Cameron the Charming Chimpanzee" is a story of friendship and forgiveness, she said.
"Each story leaves the reader with a solved problem of everyday experiences for children," De Vine writes.
Her first series was three Sam the Lamb stories: "Hooray for the Circus," where Sam faces a bully in the barnyard; "The Missing Pencils," when Sam solves a barnyard school mystery and "The Missing Goose Egg," which finds Sam helping Lucy the goose find her egg. Her first book "Where is Tomorrow?" tells the story of various animals trying to find tomorrow.
De Vine is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, is a library commissioner for the city of Azusa, and a member of the Friends of the Library. A native of Oklahoma, she is involved with reading to the children in schools and libraries in Oklahoma and California.
Thanks to De Vine, a portion of the proceeds from the books sold during the signing will go to the library.
Check out her Web site at and watch out for a Q&A with De Vine soon.
